Wanted never really appealed to me for some reason. I loved the comic and the movie didn't really seem to take much from it so maybe thats why it never really took off for me. Really Angelina Jolie and the director Timur Bekmambetov were the only reasons I had to see the movie. So as a result I have yet to head out to theaters and catch it. But apparently people dig it because it is currently sitting at $192.6 million worldwide.
So Universal's automatic response was to hang onto Producer Marc Platt until 2012. His work with the studio will begin with Wanted 2 which will bring back Bekmambetov and writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. It will be some trick if they can bring Jolie and Freeman back into the fold but for now they are aiming a bit lower at James McAvoy whom they want back.
No word on how the story will unfold but they have said that it was set up for a potential franchise. Hard to believe if they didn't put some kind of clause in anyones contract about a sequel. Well keep it here for more as we hear it.
