The Ninth Gate (1999.)
O filmu:
The Ninth Gate (1999.), directed by Roman Polanski, is a neo-noir, mystery horror/thriller about the rare book business, wherein rare-book dealer Dean Corso (Johnny Depp) is hired by bibliophile Boris Balkan (Frank Langella) to validate a seventeenth-century copy of The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows, by Aristide Torchia, and what he encounters en route. The film, based upon the novel The Club Dumas (1993), by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, comprises three genres, and was co-written by director Roman Polanski. The premiere showing was at San Sebastián, Spain, on 25 August 1999 — a month before the 47th San Sebastian International Film Festival; in North America, it failed critically and commercially, because, reviewers claimed, it was a lesser effort than Rosemary's Baby (1968), his best supernatural-theme film; nonetheless, The Ninth Gate earned a worldwide gross of $58.4 million against a $38 million budget.
Glumačka postava:
Johnny Depp
Lena Olin
Frank Langella
Emmanuelle Seigner
Plot:
Dean Corso, a rare book dealer was appointed by a renowned book collector Balkan to verify the authenticity of one of his book. According to sources, only three copies of that book exist but in three different places. After losing his friend who was killed for that book, he left for the mission. He wanted to testify Balkan's book but found something else! During his dramatic journey through Paris and Madrid, too many things were revealed beyond his expectations!

But, you know, I knew something must be rotten in Denmark. There was no way you could like me that much. Man, I can't tell you how relieved I was when you took off your dress, you... you didn't have a dick.

Uredu film, koliko se sjećam.
...I wrapped our love in all this foil,
Silver-tight like spider legs
I never wanted it to ever spoil,
But flies will lay their eggs...
