Birth (2004.)

Post by remike2 » 30 May 2010, 22:37

O filmu:
Birth is a 2004 film directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Nicole Kidman, Lauren Bacall, Danny Huston and Cameron Bright. The story is about a young widow from a prominent Manhattan-based family named Anna (played by Kidman) who slowly becomes convinced that her husband, Sean, who died ten years previously, has been reincarnated in the form of a 10-year-old boy also named Sean (Bright). At first Anna is skeptical, but Sean's intimate knowledge of their past makes her think twice. Commercially, the film was unremarkable. Distributed by New Line Cinema, it earned 12th position on its opening weekend, garnering $1.7 million with bookings at 550 screens. The combined worldwide total box office was $23.9 million, with $5.1 million in the United States and $18.8 million abroad. Despite extreme praise for Kidman's portrayal (which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination) and Glazer's direction, as well as Harris Savides's cinematography and Alexandre Desplat's score, the film generally received mixed reviews. The Guardian recently named the film as the 8th most underrated film of the past decade.

Plot:
Anna is a young widow who is finally getting on with her life after the death of her husband, Sean. Now engaged to be married, Anna meets a ten-year-old boy who tells her he is Sean reincarnated. Though his story is both unsettling and absurd, Anna can't get the boy out of her mind. And much to the concern of her fiancée, her increased contact with him leads her to question the choices she has made in her life.

But, you know, I knew something must be rotten in Denmark. There was no way you could like me that much. Man, I can't tell you how relieved I was when you took off your dress, you... you didn't have a dick.

Ovo mi je svježe, jer sam nedavno gledala i samo ću ponoviti da se zasniva na presavršenim premisama...ali uzalud. Sve je mlohavo i bezlično i nedorečeno..
I mean, a few little tiny murders and everyone just freaks out
